Pastor’s Corner
I’m writing this about noon on Friday and the sun just came out! I surely hope and pray we can have services tomorrow!
For the last Bulletin I wrote about re-starting the area monthly Bible studies. So far, it looks like we’ll have one in four places on a regular basis. Please let me know if you would like to see one in another location.
Three of the Bible studies will be in the evening, but the Bellingham study will be on the first Tuesday of each month (at 1:30 pm) because the majority of the members in Whatcom County prefer a daytime study.
Locations:
Bellingham at Spring Creek Apartments, 223 E. Bakerview.
Mt. Vernon at 7:00 pm at The Manor apartments where Judy Lemon lives, 2510 Austin Lane.
Lake Cavanaugh at the home of the Jamiesons. Time TBD.
Marysville location TBD. Time TBD.
Plan on all to be about 90 minutes.
Members are always invited to come earlier for fellowship. Then we’ll try to start the actual study right on time. Snacks are nice but optional—we’ll want to keep everything simple.
Related to all this, please be thinking about the possibility of our re-starting a Sabbath Bible study. In the past when we were having a Sabbath Bible study, the subject was different from the subject at the area Bible studies. So those who could not attend an area Bible study but did attend the Bible study on the Sabbath did not have the benefit of learning the same topic.
So here is my suggestion, and I’d like to get your feedback on this: To have a monthly Sabbath Bible study for those who want to attend a monthly Bible study but find it impossible or impractical to attend one of the area Bible studies. The topic would be the same as the area Bible studies. It would be a small group, but as I explained last week, there are advantages in small groups. We could probably get close enough together so we would not even need a microphone. It would be on the third Sabbath of the month since there is something else occurring on the other Sabbaths. It would probably begin at 10:45.
If we do this, I wouldn’t mind chair set-up going on during the Bible study so the set-up people wouldn’t have to come extra early. As a reminder, the Bible study topic for January is the book of James.
